Problems in Welding of High Nitrogen Steel: A Review

High nitrogen steel (HNS) has an excellent tensile strength and impact property due to the solid solution strengthening of nitrogen, which provides a good application prospect in many fields. Fusion welding is one main processing methods HNS, but process prone spatters, serious losses, N2 porosities, poor performances joints, resulting failure large-scale engineering applications HNS. In this work, development HNS reviewed, problems including droplet transfer instability, losses mechanical properties high content are discussed. According previous experiences, adoption method with low heat input proposed, utilizes powders instead wires, optimizes compositions shielding gas feeding materials order solve above problems, improves weld.
